    Pain is really relative. Everyone has a different pain tolerance. However, we are not going to joke with you - it really hurts. Just not much. Some compare it to the "feeling of a hot scratch". But people wont come back for tattoo after tattoo if it hurts that much. Most of us dont get hurt, but the beauty of the tattoo and the pride that comes with wearing it far outweighs the pin stick here and there.How about using some kind of anesthetic cream? Such products are really not recommended.

  • How Much Is It Going to Cost?

    When it comes to tattoos, you get what you pay for. Yes, there are many people who get tattoos for a very small fee. But look for quality and be prepared to pay for it. Never bargain over the price of a tattoo. This is disrespectful to the artist. Think of it this way: its a work of art that youll wear for the rest of your life.

  • Should I Tip My Tattoo Artist?

    Tipping is a very nice gesture. But there are no real hard and fast rules for tipping.

  • What Should I Get? And Where?

    Its all a matter of personal taste. You can get whatever you want and whatever your artist is willing to do. You can choose a painting from the wall or have them create a custom piece just for you. The only limit is your own imagination. As for where you should do it, just keep in mind what you do at work and what social circle you are in. You may want to place your tattoo somewhere where it can be easily hidden by regular clothing.

  • What Is the Best Time of Year to Get a Tattoo?

    While you can get a tattoo at any time of the year, your skin is much more exposed in the summer due to swimming, sunbathing, and just more exposure to the elements. Winter time is really the best time for a tattoo.

  • Is It OK to Get a Tattoo if Im Sick?

    Getting a tattoo when your immune system isnt at 100% isnt the best idea. Youll need your strength and white blood cells to heal the tattoo, and your body wont be able to do that if its already fighting viruses and bacteria. Not to mention, its very imprudent to bring your disease into a tattoo studio and risk passing germs on to others, especially your artist. If you have an appointment, call and reschedule until you feel well again.

  • Where Can I Find Pictures of Tattoos?

    If youre getting a tattoo, especially as an expression of your personality, why would you want the same tattoo as someone else? Instead, find other images of what youre looking for and let your artist draw a custom design for you. Example: If you want to get a tattoo of a penguin standing on a glacier, find real photos of penguins and glaciers. If you want a blue rose tattoo wrapped around a cross, find images of real roses and crosses that you like. If the images dont show exactly what you want, just take them to your artist to use as a guide and tell them what changes you want to make to the original images. A true artist will gladly accept the challenge of creating an individual work.

We are so happy with them. I actually got two little tattoos with fine lines and George did an exceptional job. My daughter got one bigger tattoo and it is even better than the reference photos she brought in. We will definitely be back!

We talked to someone at the shop on Tuesday, discussed about what designs we wanted, gave a deposit for 4 people and set an appointment for that Friday. Or so we thought… Walked in on Friday, two completely different artists were there, and one was very rude to us asking why we were there and told us we had no appointment. So we had to take our money and leave Sedona without a tattoo… Would have gone to another shop if we knew we would get stood up

Each one of these guys are great at what they do. They took the time to draw out what we wanted, go over design pointers, and make sure that you are happy with the plan. Not only do they ensure you are getting the art you want, they are also all very open about the placement, size, and concept and will blatantly tell you if the tattoo is going to last. (This time I had originally gone in for a behind the ear piece and decided on something different since what I wanted was likely to turn into blobs down the road...). George was patient and extremely helpful while I worked through a new option on the spot. We settled for a dragon as originally planned, but in a different style and redrawn by George with some super sweet modifications. George is a great artist, I really got a kick out of how much enjoyment he got and expressed from doing the tattoo. Tips for when you enter the shop: 1. Shut the door when you come in! Its hot out there and they're cooling their shop with individual units. It's definitely cool and comfy inside, but a lot of folks expect the door to shut behind them and let the air out. :) 2. If all of the artists are working in the back, walk in by the archway and talk to them. The can't hear you if you're standing in the lobby. :) Overall an awesome experience, great pricing, oh and did I mention they're fast too?! So you get quality, professional, beautiful artwork, at a great price, and bonus, you're not under the needle any longer than you have to be. See you guys again on the next visit!!

Worst *attempt* at a tattoo experience of my life. My family was in Sedona for a week and wanted to get matching tattoos of our experience. We talked to someone at the shop on Tuesday, discussed about what designs we wanted, gave a deposit for 4 people and set an appointment for that Friday. Or so we thought… Walked in on Friday, two completely different artists were there, and one was very rude to us asking why we were there and told us we had no appointment. So we had to take our money and leave Sedona without a tattoo… Would have gone to another shop if we knew we would get stood up

My cousin and I are from San Diego. We come to visit a friend once or twice a year and have, in recent years, added tattoos to our souvenir list when we come out. After 4 tattoos by these guys at this shop, I thought it was time I gave them the review I felt they deserve. After my most recent visit, I can add George to my list of artist I've had the pleasure of getting inked by at Ascension Tattoo. My first visit was with Adam, the second was with Chris. Each one of these guys are great at what they do. They took the time to draw out what we wanted, go over design pointers, and make sure that you are happy with the plan. Not only do they ensure you are getting the art you want, they are also all very open about the placement, size, and concept and will blatantly tell you if the tattoo is going to last. (This time I had originally gone in for a behind the ear piece and decided on something different since what I wanted was likely to turn into blobs down the road...). George was patient and extremely helpful while I worked through a new option on the spot. We settled for a dragon as originally planned, but in a different style and redrawn by George with some super sweet modifications. George is a great artist, I really got a kick out of how much enjoyment he got and expressed from doing the tattoo. Tips for when you enter the shop: 1. Shut the door when you come in! Its hot out there and they're cooling their shop with individual units. It's definitely cool and comfy inside, but a lot of folks expect the door to shut behind them and let the air out. :) 2. If all of the artists are working in the back, walk in by the archway and talk to them. The can't hear you if you're standing in the lobby. :) Overall an awesome experience, great pricing, oh and did I mention they're fast too?! So you get quality, professional, beautiful artwork, at a great price, and bonus, you're not under the needle any longer than you have to be. See you guys again on the next visit!!

Adam and George are awesome! My husband and I went in for alien spaceship tattoos. When in Sedona, why not. They were fun and professional. The shop was super clean, and we just had a terrific experience. We'll definitely come back for more ink next time we're in Sedona.

Adam absolutely delivered on my snake and cactus sleeve! Super fun guy to chat with during my 3 hr session and really easy to work with to get down the vision/planning prior to my appt. I couldn't be happier with my tattoo and experience at this shop. Met the owner as well, Harvey. All around great people here and really funny/great personalities. These dudes know what's up!

My daughter and I went to Ascension to get tattoos together. Adam was her artist and George was mine. Both gentlemen were very professional and took their time drawing what we wanted. We are so happy with them. I actually got two little tattoos with fine lines and George did an exceptional job. My daughter got one bigger tattoo and it is even better than the reference photos she brought in. We will definitely be back!
